Student Life

NEW for 2021

We are urban beekeepers!

Becoming an urban apiary demonstrates our desire for restoration to our students and our community. We use Teaching for Transformation as a tool in each classroom to discover our part in God’s story. Throughout the school year, we will share the many ways in which God has revealed Himself and provided ways for us to be difference makers using the honeybee.

Athletics

Calvin Christian’s athletic program is an avenue for students to develop Christian character and display athletic gifts given by God.

This includes developing a positive self-image, fostering respect for rules, officials, opponents and facilities while reinforcing sportsmanship by being gracious winners and losers. Involvement in athletics also enhances ownership of effort and attitude including hard work and self control. Athletes will build a sense of community by encouraging each other and working together as a team. They will utilize leadership skills as they demonstrate God given athletic gifts and talents.

Students are able to pursue and enjoy athletics in our modern, large air conditioned gymnasium and fitness facility.

Drama

Our deep hope for students is that they would know God as the Master Artist, understand themselves to be a part of His created work and be inspired to live a purpose filled, creative life! In Drama we train our bodies and voices, have fun and explore different ways to tell stories. We examine what it takes to bring characters to life by stepping into the roles of directors, designers and actors. Students from all grades have the opportunity to collaborate and be involved in a school drama presentation.

School Trips

We believe school trips are an important part of our students’ educational experience. Students learn to look beyond their own communities and gain insight into new places, people, and cultures. All while building friendships and shaping character. While we are unable to currently plan overnight trips, our students have the following COVID friendly opportunities while attending the Collegiate Campus:

Middle Years

Students participate in a ski trip during January Experiential Learning Week, as well as a retreat day at Deer Meadow Farms or Camp Manitou.

Grade 9

Students in Gr. 9 participate in a ‘Welcome to High School Retreat’ where, along with grade level community building, they are guided through choices high school students face.

Grade 10

Art and Band students participate in a culture experience during the spring.
