Safety
Supervision
To ensure the safety of all students, 2-3 adults will supervise the playground during recesses. Students are expected to be respectful and obedient to supervisors. The school grounds are unsupervised before 8:10 AM and are not supervised after school hours.
During School Hours
- All entrances are locked during the day.
- Volunteers and visitors sign in at the office when arriving at the school and an ID badge is worn while inside the school.
- If a student is leaving or returning to school once classes have started they will be checked in and out through the office.
Lockdown Drill
Twice per year a Lockdown Drill will be practiced so that our school is ready should an incident occur. The staff have been trained in the procedures. In preparation for this drill, the student body will receive instructions on the expectations we have of them. The instructions they receive will be presented in such a way that they are not alarmed. We do not want them to become suspicious of every stranger they see within the building. They will be reassured that the school is already doing everything necessary to protect them. The staff at the school has been instructed to be diligent in approaching any stranger within the building, asking them if they need assistance. This is our first line of defence in guarding against a potential danger.
Emergency Notification
In the event that the school needs to be evacuated, an emergency notification system is in place that enables us to contact all parents quickly and easily.
